The OptiX RTN 980L is an OptiX RTN series long-haul microwave device.

The OptiX RTN 980L long-haul microwave transmission solution is available in the split long haul (LH) model and integrated LH model (all-indoor device). The two LH models can share RFUs and IDUs.

The OptiX RTN 980L is a long-haul IP microwave device newly developed by Huawei for large-capacity and long-distance wireless transmission. The OptiX RTN 980L mainly applies to long-haul trunk networks and metro backbone networks.

The OptiX RTN 980L can transmit Ethernet services and SDH/PDH services separately or in hybrid mode. N+0 (N ≤ 14) configuration and N+1 (N ≤ 11) configuration are supported for microwave links. (A single cabinet supports up to 12+0 configuration). Two cascaded NEs support up to 16+0 configuration through an antenna. The OptiX RTN 980L applies to the following scenarios:

  • Large-capacity long-haul trunk transmission
  • Large-capacity microwave ring network
  • Aggregation and backhaul on a mobile bearer network

The OptiX RTN 980L supports the chain or ring networking and can aggregate services from other RTN short-haul microwave devices over air interfaces.

The OptiX RTN 980L long-haul system consists of the powerful TDM/Hybrid/Packet integrated IDU 980L, high-performance high-power radio frequency unit (RFU), and scalable branching unit (BU).
