OptiX RTN 380AX (RTN 380AX for short) is a next-generation full-outdoor E-band microwave transmission product developed by Huawei.
The RTN 380AX is available in two types. One type uses the MXXI4 board and supports only the P&E power supply mode. The other type uses the MXXI4B board and supports two power supply modes: DC and P&E. If there is no feature difference between these two types, these two types are normalized into RTN 380AX. If there are feature differences between these types, the former is called RTN 380AX (P&E option) and the latter is called RTN 380AX (P&E+DC option).
The RTN 380AX can provide large-capacity backhaul microwave links or aggregation links on a mobile communications network or a private network.
As E-band full-outdoor microwave equipment, the RTN 380AX has the following characteristics:
- The RTN 380AX operates at the E-band (71–76 GHz or 81–86 GHz). It features large capacity, low inter-site interference, and rich frequency spectrum resources, compared with microwave equipment that operates at the common band (6–42 GHz). As such, it can form a backhaul network for base stations densely deployed in a city and provide large-capacity backhaul links for aggregation sites. In addition, the RTN 380AX can provide high-bandwidth microwave links to transmit Ethernet services on a metro optical Ethernet in areas where optical fibers are difficult to lay out.
- In contrast with traditional split microwave equipment, the RTN 380AX, as compact full-outdoor microwave equipment, integrates all functions in an outdoor chassis, allowing for zero-footprint installation. This helps provide carriers with low-cost (low network construction costs and operating expenses) full-outdoor microwave transmission solutions
On mobile communication networks, the RTN 380AX can:
- Provide large-capacity backhaul microwave links for 3G/LTE base stations, especially for those that are densely deployed in urban areas. Protection functions such as PLA and 1+1 HSB as well as XPIC are supported.
- Provide large-capacity aggregation links for 3G/LTE base stations and implement multi-direction aggregation when working with OptiX RTN 900 NEs.
- Work with the CSG to provide a microwave channel solution for transparent transmission on the IP RAN.
- Work with OptiX RTN 900 NEs to implement Super Dual Band through Super EPLA, providing high-bandwidth, long-distance, and high-availability backhaul links. Triple the E-band link transmission distance through Super Dual Band Relay.
- Function as the master device and work with the RTN 320/RTN 320F/RTN 310/RTN 380A/RTN 380AX to implement full-outdoor Super Dual Band through Super EPLA. This solution features zero footprint and provides large-bandwidth backhaul links that can be easily deployed. This solution applies to tail sites without outdoor cabinets or equipment rooms.
- Function as the master device and leverage third-party common-band microwave links. In this solution, the RTN 380AX can schedule packets on third-party common-band microwave links so that legacy devices can be reused to implement Super Dual Band.
